A brand new menu is coming to Hobba Prahran and I was invited down to give it a test run before it went live to the public.

Perfectly cooked meat that was nice and pink on the inside with a nice sauce to match. Bacon was also cooked with some crisp which I am a fan of. Their burger doesn’t usually come with egg or bacon, but being a sample taste test, mine came with the lot.

The reason the flavour didn’t get a higher score than it is because the pickles used in this burger were really overpowering, they were really sweet and dominated the burger so much that I couldn’t taste much else. The burger also didn’t need the egg, this is an additional item normal which I would leave out of the order.

If you haven’t been or seen Hobba Prahran, it is a hip cafe with an awesome fit out and a really great menu, I don’t think I would come here for the burger, but I would definitely come here for the Hobba’s Vietnamese ‘Banh mi’ – Lemongrass, ginger and Asian flavours, served with marinated cooked pork loin, Asian vegetables, chicken liver pâté, pork crackling crumb and radish, wombok and slaw salad, in a sweet and buttery brioche bun, the Pan seared snapper and the Wild mushrooms as they were all the stand out dishes for me.
