I found Cafe 51 through a burger app on the 11/11/2014, way before this place became famous. There was barely any talk about Cafe 51 on social media but it was highly rated on the app so thought I would give it a try.

Another reason for heading to to Cafe 51 was because I made a new friend through my burger instagram account (worth following) and she really wanted to try out one of the local burgers in the area. I invited her to Cafe 51 which was within walking distance of my office and told her to wear something photo appropriate.

To my surprise, she actually showed up and wore something that could easily distract me from my burger eating experience. I took these pictures below and wasn’t sure if I was there to rate the presentation of the burgers or rate the background.

Interesting enough, the burger itself was actually really good and I was amazed at why it wasn’t pumping, it moved straight into my top 5 without hesitation, I added an extra patty as always in which the staff told me would be a struggle to complete, but I actually think I could have added a third (maybe just to impress the company). These days (late 2015/Early 2016), people are eating 4-8 stacker burgers from Cafe 51 and there is a line out the front every single day during lunch hours.

I am glad to say that I started the trend at Cafe 51 with this exact post. Since this review and the original visit back in 2014 I have since been back a heap ofย times, all the burgers consumed are pictured below.

In 2016, Cafe 51 opened a second store called Burger Love which is situated in St Kilda. Not sure if it is the venue or they are trying to things, but I feel as though the burgers are not as good atย St Kilda as they are from the original in South Melbourne, this drop of quality has taken Cafe 51 out of my top 5 ranking ๐Ÿ™

If you haven’t been here yet, it’s worth a shot. Burgers range $7-$12 for 1-3 patty burgers.
