What to say about Barney Allens… hmmmm……well, it nothing at all like I was expecting. After going to Big Huey’s other establishment in south Melbourne Big Huey’s Diner and having one of the worst burgers I have had to date, I was told that Barney Allens was a different story and that the burgers here were much better quality and I think even once upon a time were on a top burger list.

I was very excited about this burger, I had never been to Barny Allens and thought it was a restaurant which would be buzzing during dinner hours, but when we walked in and realised it was more like an old run down pub and there were only one other couple eating at 7pm I started to have my doubts.

On the menu ‘Our Famous Barney Allens Burger – has developed a cult following’ – unless they have a new chef, which is likely - seeing as this place has been around for over 20 years, I couldn’t see anything famous about this burger.

This famous burger at Barney Allens was laughable… dry over cooked beef patty, coles bread roll as a bun, no sauce on the top, minimal cheese and super sweet beetroot relish – was a bit of a struggle to finish this and not because of the size (actually went for another burger on the way home).

I hate being disappointed when going for a burger #notimeforshitburgers.

If you are thinking of going to Barney Allen's, keep walking and head to Gone Burger up the road.
